    CP Restriction Update:

Yesterday, four drug manufacturers announced or updated their contract pharmacy restrictions.  Fortunately, only one of them – the manufacturer Sumitomo – extended their restrictions to CHCs.  Sumitomo's new policy applies to three drugs that CHCs may dispense:

    • Aptiom, an antiepileptic drug
    • Gemtesa, for overactive bladder
    • Myfembree, to manage heavy menstrual bleeding related to uterine fibroids.

Effective May 1, for these three drugs:

    • CHCs with one or more in-house pharmacies will no longer be able to access these drugs at any contract pharmacies at the 340B price.
    • CHCs with no in-house pharmacies may receive 340B pricing at one contract pharmacy, which must be located within 40 miles of the "parent site".  These CHCs must designate their selected contract pharmacy site on 340besp.com by April 19 in order for them to be effective on May 1.

Covered entities in Louisiana and Arkansas are exempt from these restrictions.  (And speaking of Arkansas, four more manufacturers have announced this week that they are lifting restrictions in that state, following last month's Appeals Court decision.)
